About this job
Family Spring has partnered with the Alameda County Probation Department to provide intensive substance use disorder treatment services within a specialized unit for youth and young adults in the JJC. The qualified clinician will provide intensive SUD services in-person within the physical residential unit at the JJC multiple days per week.
The primary treatment modality in the JJC being used is the 12-Session MBSAT program; an evidence-based treatment program that teaches mindfulness and other self-regulation skills through a trauma-informed, culturally humble approach. The qualified clinician will be fully certified (along with CE if eligible) in the MBSAT program to facilitate group and individual MBSAT sessions via onboarding training by Dr. Sam Himelstein (MBSAT creator and CEO of Family Spring). This is an excellent opportunity to develop professionally, add to your toolkit, and help a challenging but rewarding population.
Responsibilities:

- Complete assessments to determine relevant treatment plans for patients and their families
- Provide evidence-based individual counseling and coaching to teens, young adults, and potentially their families

- Dedicate administrative time, business development, and marketing tasks in addition to direct clinical hours. This may include but is not limited to networking with colleagues, writing blog posts, preparing content for a webinar, filming short videos for our target population, beta testing the forthcoming Family Spring web/mobile application, and other similar activities (5-10 hours per week).
Minimum Qualifications
- Have a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology from a regionally accredited school OR a substance use disorder certificate from a DHCS approved credentialing organization.
- Have documented expertise and training doing clinical work with teens, young adults, and their families. We require a minimum of 2 years of direct services with this population. (This can include practicum and internship experience).

- Be available for 10-15 direct clinical services hours per week, and 5-10 administrative hours per week.
- Maintain consistent self-care practices.
- Be willing to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
